What is acne scars Subcision?
Subcision is a non-invasive treatment for deep acne scars. This method immediately ‘releases’ scar tissue attached to deeper facial structures.
Subcision should be included in any acne scarring treatment. By releasing these deep scar tissue attachments, the overlying skin is smoothed, erasing pits, rolling depressions, hypertrophic scars and boxcar scars.
How does Subcision work?
Pits, boxcars, punched out, and rolling acne scarring are caused by scar tissue created by healing acne. Scar tissue forms deep dermal attachments that pull the skin’s outer layers down and cause depressions. This is also true for scars that have become depressed for any reason.
Subcision removes the deep dermal scar tissue attachments that prevent the skin from migrating. This can be done with either a needle or a subcision cannula. Because the cannula is inserted beneath the skin’s surface, it can cut through these deep dermal attachments, lifting depressed/pitted scars.
BEFORE & AFTER
FAQ ABOUT Subcision
Yes. The results of surgical scar removal are permanent once they are eliminated.
No, assuming you don’t have active acne, this is highly unlikely.
Subcision with a blunt cannula is less painful than with a sharp needle, and most patients can tolerate it without anaesthesia.
The effects can be immediate but full results are usually noticeable 2-4 weeks after.
